Duplication image finder software has always had one main problem. Thousands of duplications may be found on a computer, some within system areas and those images maybe part of the operating system or duplicate images that are part of a package that are stored in theC:\ Program Files Folder. Images within these types of folders should always be protected from deletion. The GPRSG Duplication finder will automatically protect these important to protect areas.

If you have two duplications which duplication do you get rid of and which do you wish to keep. The GPRSG Duplication finder has been designed not just to find duplications but also to provide options and a high level of protection against deleting duplications that should not be deleted. For example if you have a backup drive you can select that all duplications from that drive are kept while all duplications on the computers hard drive are deleted. This would then increase space on the computers hard drive and at the same time guaranteeing that the backup drive retains one of the duplications. Therefore you can choose which drive to keep. This can also be done at folder level within the same drive. The Software will suggest for all of these methods which image to keep and which to delete. Its default setting is always to keep the original image and suggest deletion of newer images.

Software to find images and other types of files like video duplication is very valuable. With image duplication software you may wish to scan your drive every week or so. You may have thousands of duplications that you may wish to remove at a touch of a button on a weekly basis with some confidence that you do not have to manually check each duplication prior to removal on every occasion after you custom set-up the software.

With GPRSG it automaticaaly protects certain system areas and other high level protection areas but other areas can be customised by the end user by excluding certain areas, folders you know you do not wish to delete duplicate images from, you can have a certain amount of confidence that only duplicates you wished removed are actually removed. With the level of protection this software offers it should be a fairly straight forward task.

When deciding on any image duplication finder it is a good idea to check if it has the following minimum protection:

• Always sends deleted images to the recycle bin first.
• Certain amount of protection against deleting images in certain critical system areas.

More than minimum protection GPRSG uses auto monitoring and Custom Exclude:

• Suggest Images to delete features.
• Custom Exclude Certain folder areas so that images within those area are not deleted.
• Image Auto Monitoring - so that often used files are not deleted, this level of protection is I think unique to the GPRSG Duplication finder. Often used images are continuously monitored.
• Combine all of this protection and deleting duplicate images, video, documents etc pdf or just about any duplicate file becomes much more safer.

What is Duplication software used for? It is used to delete duplicated files from your computer. The reason is a general reason and that is to reduce the amount of space that those photos take up, this allows the end user to then put more pictures on the same hard drive.

• Version 5 comes with lots of new features including a high level of protection through monitor protect and folder protect. In theory if not in practice it should be safe to allow the software to select all the duplications that it feels should be deleted and all the user will have to do is delete any duplications. THIS IS ONLY IN THEORY in reality you should always check that the pictures you are going to delete are the pictures you wish to delete.
• This new feature works by protecting the user from deleting certain images from certain areas that usually hold images for example, system images that the system uses to display something to the end user.
  This feature I believe is unique to this GPRSG duplication finder.
• The other new feature in version 5 that is designed to protect the end user is PROTECTION OF OFTEN USED IMAGE FILES. The software can be set up so that it monitors the images that are used. It then will list the most regular pictures that are often used and when a scan is made and files are to be deleted it will attempt to protect those regularly used files from deletion. This again is a feature unique to this software I believe. This feature takes time to first collect usage information.
• The other new function in version 5 is Camera or Folder compare also drive compare. You can take photos with your camera and even before putting them on the hard drive you can compare them with every picture you currently have on your hard drive prior to copying them to your hard drive. If there are any similar pictures the software will list them next to the picture on the hard drive. This feature requires a Microsoft Compatible Drive.
• Improved Picture in Picture and large view and scroll are also included in version 5.

Two device near match


• CONNECT AND NEAR MATCH - you can now connect a external hard drive etc or any other device that holds images and check against all your images on your C:\ or D:\drive and even near matches of those images.
• CONNECT DEVICE LIKE PHONE OR CAMERA - this method is more complex than the normal near match method. It attempts to LIST PICTURES ON YOUR HARD DRIVE that are near to the PICTURES YOU HAVE JUST TAKEN and wish to put on your computer. This is a very advanced new feature it attempts to establish if the pictures previously taken are similar to pictures just taken prior to putting them on your hard drive. If they are, the user, can delete these pictures on the device for instance a mobile phone prior to copying the files to the computers hard drive or backup drive. Please note the recycle bin may not restore deleted files from some eternal devices.
• NEW LOAD AND SAVE - makes a SNAP SHOT OF THE HARD DRIVE OR PART OF THE HARD DRIVE for instance all picture folders. It collects the location of each picture searched on the hard drive or in a certain location. Using MULTI DRIVE this allows you to hold all your standard image files so they can be compared in the future against new images you wish to put on your hard drive say photos taken with a CAMERA or PHONE. If the images are say of the same picture you can then remove that image prior to copying the photos to your hard drive. The GPRSG Duplication Finder will list a number of photos that it thinks maybe similar in some way. You can widen or narrow this list. THIS MEANS YOU CAN TAKE HUNDREDS OF PICTURES AND COMPARE THEM WITH PHOTOS ALREADY TAKEN ON YOUR HARD DRIVE OR BACKUP DRIVE PREVIOUSLY.

• The Duplication Image Finder software is very easy to use for a standard image search just do the following.
  (1) Click Search - Click Start - Select Drive or Folder - Click OK - it is that easy.

Features of the GPRSG Image Duplication Finder Software

Version 3 comes with a new feature that is unique to this GPRSG Image Duplication Finder Software. It comes with Auto File Protect Monitor. Allow Monitor Protect to analyses the amount of times that any duplicate image is used and if it is used several times it will not suggest that the duplicate file is deleted. Suggest with Monitor Protect ON allows the software to select files for deletion based on the results from monitoring usage. The files monitored are selected from previous images found that have duplicates. This new function helps when deciding what images or files you wish to delete. You can also use other suggest methods but this new suggest method works on previous usage analysis. The Duplication Finder will continue to monitor duplicate images or files that are used often via the task bar and will try and protect these images from being selected. This function of-course can be turned On or Off.

A common problem with image duplication software is deciding what files to delete. This software attempts to alleviate the problem in two main ways. By protecting certain folder areas and secondly protecting images that are often used. Also suggest delete will always leave one copy of that image on the computer. In theory even if you would not wish to do it is practice it should be possible and relatively safe to select thousands of duplicate images and just let the software delete them. However I would always suggest viewing the images to check they are the ones you wish not to have two copies of. Please note that when deleting a near match (not duplicates) you may actually be deleting the only available image. Therefore when using near match it is also important to view prior to deletion. Also when using near match it will only suggest files that maybe deleted but you will still have to select files you wish to delete.

• PICTURE IN PICTURE - Easy picture in picture allows you to see both images at the same time that are duplicates. This function is very useful when comparing NEAR MATCH IMAGES.
• IMPORTANT LOCATION PROTECT - This software has built in system protect. This means that certain system folders are protected when system protect is on. By default system protect is always on with the option of the user to turn it off (apart from the trial version where the default is off). This gives an added layer of protection and will help protect against areas that duplicate files should not be deleted from unless your are an expert. Switch it off and it will show all protected areas.
• RECYCLE PROTECTION - Deletes to Recycle Bin for added delete protection.
• MONITOR PROTECT - Attemps to protect images that are used often. This type of protection increases the longer the software is monitoring images used.
• DUPLICATE SUGGEST ORIGINAL - Instead of you deciding which duplicate image to delete you can use the SUGGEST WHICH DUPLICATE IMAGE to delete, this gives you a very quick one click deletion option. It works by keeping the first image copied onto your hard drive and then deleting all other duplications of that image. If the first image has however been deleted it will keep the next duplicated image. In other words it will always keep one copy of that image.
• NEAR DUPLICATION MATCH - sometimes you will have two copies that are very close to each other but are not the same in this mode it will try and find very close matches. However in this mode you have to select which near duplications to delete because it sometimes will find pictures that are not near duplicates of each other. This function will allow you to delete near matches that are not exact duplications. In this mode it will highlight in intermediate mode images that are near matches.
• ANY FILE TYPE - now you can find duplications of any file type not just the standard types of images. The standard image types for example JPEG, GIF, TIFF, BMP, PNG etc. Now in this version even if its a non standard type for instance say CANON Raw CR2 the duplication software can still find a duplication and allows you to view the location of any duplicate. I.
• USE VENDORS SOFTWARE - now you can use the vendors own software to view the duplicated image if its a non standard unavailable format. This should always be done prior to deletion, however you are still protected by all deletions going to the recycle bin (apart from connecting to some external devices like phones or camera).
• FIND ANY FILE TYPE - this function allows you to search out individual file types to remove. For instance if you wish to remove all CR2 Canon duplications it is now easy to go directly to this file type in a large collection of different file types. You can actually now list a single non normal file type this function gives a large amount of flexibility. After listing a single file type you can then use View All to re-list all file types.
• CUSTOMISE AND ADD NEW FILE TYPES - this was initially intended so you could add more image file types when they became available. It now means that you can see if you have duplications of ANY FILE TYPE for example ZIP files etc. Warning when deleting non standard image or video files or any other file be very careful to validate by viewing them prior to deletion that they are files you wish to delete.
• GO TO FOLDER - one click to take you to the LOCATION of any image found on your HARD DRIVE.
• MULTI DRIVE COMPARE - Now you can compare multiple drives for instance C: and D: or a Phone Drive, and it will allow you to compare them and see if duplicate images exist cross hard drives.
• SUGGEST DELETE FOR A CERTAIN DRIVE- Say you have images on the C:\ drive and the same images on the D:\ drive you can get the software to select for deletion only files stored on say the C:\ drive. This is a good idea if for instance you wish to keep all duplicate images of the Z:\ backup drive at the same time deleting duplicates of the Z:\ drive from the C:\ drive.
• GET STATISTICS - the duplication software will give you the total amount of files found. The amount of files selected for deletion and amount not selected for deletion.
• LARGE VIEWER - sometimes it is nice to have a full screen view of an image to see detail. One click on the picture turns full view ON a second click in full view returns you to normal view.
• DELETE AGAIN AND AGAIN - you can delete several files from a list and then re-list the remaining files and delete again. This means you DO NOT HAVE TO DO a NEW SEARCH each time you delete from the list. This just makes it more easy to use.
• STANDBY MODE - after initial search - if you are searching a very large backup drive you can put the computer into standby mode and return in your own time. Most duplication searches take between 10 to 30 minutes. You would have a very large drive with a huge amount of photos to take any longer but all the same there is a standby mode if required.
• Exclude Feature- exclude Folders you never wish images to be selected or compared with other duplications.

The duplication software can now handle just about any file type and you can even add your own file type if a new file type becomes available. There are non standard file types like the Canon CR2 raw file type that you can now search for duplications using this powerful duplication software so whatever file format you use from images taken in space to video formats this software will try and find all duplications of that image or video or any other file you have.

Tagging Using the Duplication Finder Software

The duplication finder can also be used to Tag duplicate images. This is done automatically using auto duplication tagging. This will tag any duplicate images with the same information as any other exact match. An example of this is if you have Castle-tag XXX.jpg and have another exact file called ABCD.jpg the duplication software can Auto Tag so the second file is called Castle-tagABCD.jpg. I have only been tagging groups of images for a short time but the following screenshoot gives some idea of how useful group and duplicate tagging is, knowing that each tagged file can be found in minutes.
